Both often wear black coats/trench coats. Jhonen’s natural hair color is jet black. Jhonen also has brown eyes and glasses. And the hair, Dib’s hair is a messy caricature of a cowlick, Jhonen seems to often have a cowlick on his hair, like on the picture above.
Jhonen is Mexican, he even adds plenty of Mexican references on his work, the food, the animals, etc.
I’m not stating Dib is canonically Mexican, but I think is a solid theory. Needs to be confirmed, but otherwise, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, agreed. Also, wouldn’t it be kinda inspiring if Dib is actually not white but hispanic? Because in a world as terrible as the one in Invader Zim, the only character who bothers and tries to save the planet is him. Not so often you see a POC character that does that in a cartoon. :’)

Depends tho, I’m considered white in Latin America but I’m considered poc in USA. I’m mixed race I just pass as Blanca. Dib is probably mestizo like Jhonen, citing his pale nephews and nieces as inspiration for Dib and Gaz.
